Heel Pain Treatment in Murrieta

Common Causes of Heel Pain in Murrieta

You can't walk, run, jump, or engage in most sports unless you put pressure on your heel. And if it's in pain, that makes all your activities difficult or even impossible to engage in. At Temecula Valley Podiatry, we diagnose the problem and offer effective, safe treatment for it.

The two most common causes of heel pain are plantar fasciitis and heel spurs. With spurs, calcium deposits on the underside of your heel bone lead to the growth of abnormal bone tissue. And the inflammation, swelling, and possible tearing of the thick band of tissue connecting your heel to your toes is what plantar fasciitis is. The risk factors for heel pain include shoes that don't offer proper support, flat feet, high arches, having feet that roll inward when you walk, and being overweight. Our heel pain treatment in Murrieta is based on a complete examination and x-rays from our foot doctor. The severity will partially dictate the proper direction to take. It's important that you don't simply ignore your heel pain and hope that it just goes away. That might work if you could manage to be completely off your feet for an extended period of time, but with today's busy schedules, that's an unlikely circumstance. Fortunately, our heel pain treatment in Murrieta may be as simple as the use of shoe orthotics (inserts) to cushion your heel. This method may be used on its own, or possibly in conjunction with stretching exercises, icing, medication, or physical therapy. Surgery is also an option, especially if your pain persists, other treatments are ineffective, or if there is severe tissue tearing.

There's no reason you should have to suffer when our heel pain treatment in Murrieta is available. Please reach out to our office to schedule an appointment for an examination.
